Please join us for the 2019 Smithsonian Digitization Conference October 1st, 2nd & 3rd!

Space is limited - you must register separately for each day you wish to attend the conference.

October 1st, the Pre-Conference exhibits/demonstrations of digitization initiatives at the Smithsonian will be from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM at the S. Dillon Ripley Center (1100 Jefferson Drive, SW, Washington, DC). Join us for coffee from 9:00 to 10:00 AM.

PLEASE NOTE: Exhibits/ demonstrations will be available on October 1 ONLY. No ticket necessary.

October 2nd and 3rd, the Conference Keynotes and Panels will be from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM at the Freer Gallery of Art (1050 Independence Avenue, SW, Meyer Auditorium, Washington DC) and will include talks by experts from the Smithsonian and around the world. Join us for coffee from 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM.

If tickets are sold out for October 2nd or 3rd, you can email sidigi2019@si.edu to be put on a waiting list. Please include the word WAITLIST in the subject and your full name, email address, company or institutional affiliation and which day(s) you want to attend.

Will the 2019 Smithsonian Digitization Conference have reasonable accommodation?
Yes--In the event you require special assistance, please reach out to us at sidigi2019@si.edu and indicate your access service request by September 3, 2019. Note: We will make every effort to accommodate requests received after this deadline.

What time do the doors open?
October 1 Pre-Conference Exhibits/Demonstrations
the doors open at 09:00 AM for coffee at the S. Dillon Ripley Center. The exhibits/demonstrations of digitization initiatives begin at 10:00 AM.
October 2nd and 3rd the doors open at the Freer Gallery of Art at 8:00 AM for coffee. The program begins at 9:00 AM each day.

Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?
There are no ID requirements for the general public. Smithsonian staff must show their ID to enter before the buildings open to the public. The event is only open to Adults (18+ years).

What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?
Parking near the National Mall is very limited and expensive. We recommend you take the Metro to the Smithsonian Metro stop which is on the Blue/Orange/Silver lines. For more information about Metro, http://www.wmata.com/.

What can/can't I bring to the event?
All events will be in Smithsonian Institution buildings and all bags will be checked by Security staff. There will be no facilities for you to store bags or coats. We recommend you bring as little as possible to avoid lengthy delays going through Security. For more information about Security at the Smithsonian http://www.si.edu/Visit/Security.

Do I have to bring my ticket to the event?
Yes, for each day of the conference you will need to show a paper or e-ticket on your mobile device to be admitted.

The name on the registration/ticket doesn't match the attendee. Is that okay?
Yes--you may give your seat to someone else if you find you cannot make the event. But please email sidigi2019@si.edu and let us know about the change so we have the new person on our registration list at the door.
